Requirements

Spanner Planner runs inside your browser. This means it is compatible with almost all devices that are capable of browsing the internet. There are some limitations and recommendations you should be aware of though, to get the best possible experience from Spanner Planner.

1. Choosing your browser

Google Chrome

Google Chrome automatically updates to the latest version.

Spanner Planner currently only works on Google Chrome. Google Chrome is available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS.

2. Screen Resolution

Spanner Planner is designed to work with the resolution 1024x768 or higher. The horizontal width (1024 pixels) is the important figure here. Pretty much all modern devices can achieve this resolution or higher - it is unlikely you will be running a lower resolution, however, if you are then please see the below:

Implementing Spanner Planner with Xero

When configuring Spanner Planner for use with Xero please do so in the correct order. Check the table below for your scenario and follow the steps for that scenario.

You are new to both Spanner Planner and Xero.
  1. Enter or import customers into Spanner Planner.
  2. Enter or import suppliers into Spanner Planner.
  3. Enter or import your stock, non-stock, and non-tracking parts.

Sync with Xero

*Important - See note below regarding Xero imports

You have been using Xero for a while and you are now setting up Spanner Planner.
  1. Sync with Xero and all customer and suppliers will be imported back into Spanner Planner.
  2. Complete a stock take and a review of non-stock and non-tracking items. Do NOT import a complete history of parts from an old system.
  3. Enter or import your stock, non-stock, and non-tracking parts.

Sync with Xero

*Important - See note below regarding Xero imports

You are converting from a legacy/PC based system to Spanner Planner and Xero.
  1. Export the data from the old system.
  2. Using the import tools (or one of our Uber Partners) import the customers, vehicles, suppliers and into Spanner Planner.
  3. Complete a stock take and a review of non-stock and non-tracking items. Do NOT import a complete history of parts from an old system.
  4. Enter or import your stock, non-tracking parts.
  5. View options for importing all job and vehicle history with one of our Uber Partners.

Sync with Xero

*Important - See note below regarding Xero imports

You are converting to Spanner Planner without Xero.
  1. Export the data from the old system.
  2. Using the import tools (or one of our Uber Partners) import the customers, vehicles, suppliers and into Spanner Planner.
  3. Complete a stock take and a review of non-stock and non-tracking items. Do NOT import a complete history of parts from an old system.
  4. Enter or import your stock, non-tracking parts.
You will be spending 10's of hours double handling data! We recommend you use Xero!
You are not in the workshop/mechanical industry but still wants to use Spanner Planner.

IMPORTANT!!! Xero, Contacts, Customers and Suppliers

When you create a contact into Xero it only becomes a customer or a supplier when there is an invoice or a purchase order against it. This means you cannot manually tag a contact as a supplier so when you sync with Spanner Planner it will NOT import these contacts as suppliers and just assume they are customers.

Therefore you MUST setup new customers and suppliers in Spanner Planner first then sync with Xero.

While you can of course setup and use Spanner Planner all by yourself, you may wish to go through one of our Uber Partners.
